SPC Troy Yocum backed by a team is taking on the challenge of raising the needed $5 million by hiking 7000 miles across America while drumming. The journey will take 15 months passing through 30 states and 38 large cities. Troy will have to average over 20 miles a day while enduring each season. The idea for the hike has been evolving since Troy joined the Army in 2001 but it is now when our economy is struggling and military families are in most need that he will put one foot in front of another. STEPPING UP TO HELP

On April 18th, 2010 Troy will begin a 2 week journey throughout Kentucky that will take him to several well visited areas. He will have to average 20 miles a day while circling back to Louisville to make it to Churchill Downs on Derby day.

Troy will be hiking the bases at over 20 MLB/Minor League Baseball stadiums with the help of Louisville Slugger and Bionic Gloves. Troy has aligned his route to meet up with stadiums for home games. We hope to get the message of how to donate $5 by texting ICARE to 90999 on the Jumbo Tron and programs so people can instantly donate.

We are proud to join forces with the Heroes of the Diamond to help Troy raise funds and awareness for our military families during their historic “Red, White and Blue Tour" delivering unique patriotic events designed to entertain fans and honor America.  They conduct a choreographed pre-game and half-time performance at sporting events that include: "Passing the Flag" - "Taps" - "Walk of Honor" - "9-11 Tribute" and other ceremonies.  Troy will take part in a number of these unique events in addition to having the Heroes of the Diamond hike alongside him when possible. Stay tuned for updates on events and to find out when SPC Yocum and the Heroes of the the Diamond will be hiking through your city.

HONOR TREES
SPC Yocum will be working with organizations across his 7000 mile route to plant a tree for every US Soldier (5,298) who gave their life for our freedom during the Iraq and Afghanistan operations. Please help us by meeting up with Troy and lending a hand.

The hike kicks off  beginning April 17th, 2010 on Thunder over Louisville day. Troy will start the long journey at the Louisville Slugger museum "Big Bat" and travel 22 miles around Louisville, circling back downtown for the Derby season kickoff fireworks show.

KNOW OF A MARCHING BAND?
We are collaborating with several high school, collegiate and specialty marching bands along Troy's route to help gain public support like no other hiker has done before. Music will hit the streets and the word about military families in need will explode. If your marching band is interested and wants to help us make a difference please  email us.

RIDERS YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
We need riders across America to come out and show their support for our Military and ride alongside SPC Yocum. We are extending an invitation to Patriot Guard Riders, Sons of Liberty Riders, and many others to proudly unite America!

We need people to contact EMS, Fire, Police, Boy Scouts, Young Marines, VFWs, American Legions and anyone who wants to join in the hike for a few miles.

FIRST RESPONDERS YOU ARE NEEDED
We are coordinating with several Fire , EMS , and Police departments to organize walks in many cities. If your department wants to help join to save struggling military families please email us . Together we plan on making a difference and spreading the word.

Troy will be filming a documentary and uploading daily video blogs. Even Emmie will have a camera on her back pack that will stream live often.
Several drum companies have donated the drums and equipment that will be performed on  in street performances and benefit shows in the 25 large cities along the route. There he will meet up with each of these corporation's signed drummers for performances.  Latin Percussion has agreed to supply all the hand drums that will be needed for the 15 month long journey. Troy will strap on and perform on bata drums, djembes, and marching percussion while hiking across America to literally drum up support for our struggling veterans and their families
CALLING ALL MUSICIANS
We need your help to raise awareness. We are looking for anyone interested in adding to our concerts, street or park performances. You can walk with Troy or just meet at designated areas. A location schedule is in the works so check back and help us blast music to every corner of your city! For more info email us.
